The Sunday Market, held every first Sunday of the month, is Amsterdam's trendy market that features fashion, design and art. It is held in the lovely Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek (one of Amsterdam's most popular cultural venues, which used to be an industrial plant).
If you are into hip, trendy, funky or even quirky stuff, the Sunday Market is the place for you. This cool shopping spot is a mecca of all things unique. Amsterdam's leading (as well as its finest young) artists and designers showcase their work here -- from retro items, fashion pieces, jewelry, kiddie products to illustrations, ceramics, paintings, and other odd things you surely haven't seen anywhere else.
Other things you can find at the Sunday Market: a wide range of items in interior and product design, vintage products, accessories, art pieces, organic produce, and other exquisite, funny and silly products. Of course, scrumptious food and drink are offered too.
The whole idea behind the Sunday Market is to promote and support both seasoned and up-and-coming artists and designers in the city. It was conceptualized to serve as a creative platform for said artists and designers to present their creations to the public, as well as to provide the public an accessible means to find one of a kind works of art -- apparently, it is doing just that!
The Sunday Market has taken inspiration from similar markets in London such as Spitalfield and Camden -- where shopping, fun, inspiration and creativity are inextricably bound together.
